Was a tinsmith (tinner) in 1850 to at least 1860. Had a hardware, stoves & tinware store in 1867. Real estate valued at $800 in 1860, $6000 in 1870. Personal estate valued at $700 in 1850, $1000 in 1860, $1700 in 1870. Was retired by 1870. Was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, was a chorister and class leader for nearly 30 years.
Lived one year at the home of his father in Lorraine. Settled in Wardwell. Later moved to Adams Village by 1850 and lived in Blackstone House.
